Assistant Manager

Job Description: Assistant Manager – The Ashford Arms.

We are now seeking a talented Assistant Manager to join our team and support operations in all aspects of our bar, restaurant and hotel at The Ashford Arms, Ashford in the Water.


To realise our vision of great hospitality, heritage and a warming sense of community we are searching for someone who has:



  1. Previous supervisory or assistant management experience in a hotel, restaurant, or bar setting is preferred.

  2. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  3. Exceptional problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make effective decisions under pressure.

  4. Proficiency in using hospitality management software and Microsoft Office.

  5. Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.

  6. Knowledge of food and beverage operations, safety, and hygiene standards.

  7. Excellent organisational and multitasking skills.

  8. A passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences and maintaining high-quality service.


Responsibilities:



  1. Collaborate with the General Manager to execute the overall strategic vision and objectives of the hotel, restaurant, and bar.

  2. Lead and inspire a team of employees, providing guidance, coaching, and support to enhance their performance and professional growth.

  3. Monitor daily operations to ensure adherence to service standards, quality control, and guest satisfaction.

  4. Manage reservations, guest check-in/check-out, and guest inquiries to provide exceptional service and resolve any issues promptly.

  5. Oversee the restaurant and bar areas, coordinating with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service, efficient stock management, and compliance with safety and hygiene standards.

  6. Assist in financial management, including budgeting, cost control, and revenue optimisation, aiming to achieve and exceed financial targets.

  7. Collaborate with the marketing team to promote special events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to attract and retain customers.

  8. Address guest feedback and complaints, taking appropriate actions to ensure guest satisfaction and loyalty.

  9. Maintain stock control, ensuring adequate stock levels and efficient procurement processes.

  10. Uphold and enforce company policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe and compliant environment for both guests and employees.
