Longbow Walks 29K to Raise £5,000 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital
27 Longbow team members are stepping up, literally, for a cause that touches hearts across the region. On Tuesday 2nd September, they’ll be lacing up their boots and setting off on a 29-kilometre charity hike through the stunning Peak District, aiming to raise £5,000 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
This challenge isn’t just about distance. It’s a commitment to giving back to the children and families who rely on world-class care when they need it most.
A huge thank you to the kindness of our supporters, we’ve already reached our original fundraising goal of £2,500 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital. To keep building on this momentum, we’ve increased our target to £5,000. Every contribution helps us go further and we’re so thankful to everyone who has joined us on this journey so far.
Walking with purpose
The route reflects more than just scenic beauty of the Peak District. Starting at The Peacock at Owler Bar, the walkers will pass through The George and The Maynard, before reaching the final stop at The Ashford Arms. Each venue is a Longbow site, making the walk a symbolic journey through the company’s heartland, linking its business, people and purpose.
Why Sheffield Children’s Hospital?
Sheffield Children’s Hospital is one of only three dedicated children’s hospitals in the UK, offering life changing care to thousands of young patients every year from South Yorkshire and beyond. From broken bones to rare, complex conditions, the hospital is a beacon of hope for families during their most difficult times.
Charitable support plays a crucial role in funding:
- Specialist medical equipment
- Groundbreaking research
- New facilities
- Engaging environments built with children in mind
Every pound raised helps ensure that children get the best care in the best possible setting and that their families are supported every step of the way.
“We’re incredibly grateful to the Longbow team for their support. Every step they take and every pound they raise helps us continue to provide the best possible care for children and families who rely on Sheffield Children’s. Fundraising like this make a real difference, and we’re proud to have them walking for us.” – Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity
Company culture meets community spirit
Longbow Venues has long championed charitable giving. Through our popular dessert initiative, the company donates £1 from every dessert sold across its venues to four local charities:
- Blythe House Hospice care
- Me & Dee
- Edale Mountain Rescue
- Ruth Strauss Foundation
That programme alone has already raised thousands for essential community services. The upcoming September walk marks a new step forward.
Each participating team member has pledged to raise at least £100 and in a powerful show of support, Longbow is recognising the full day as paid work. That means walkers can focus entirely on the challenge and its cause, without giving up a day’s pay.
“We’re incredibly proud of our team for taking on this challenge,” says Rob Hattersley, Longbow’s Managing Director. “Sheffield Children’s Hospital is a vital part of our region, and this walk is a way for us to give back in a meaningful and visible way. At Longbow, we believe in supporting our communities, not just through our business, but through action. This is about making a real difference for children and families who need it most.”
How you can support the walk
