Longbow Venues Takes on a 42km Peak District Walk for Sheffield Children’s Hospital
Last September the Longbow Venues team laced up their boots for the first time and walked 30km passing our venues to raise money for Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
On Tuesday 22nd September 2026, we’re back for round two and this time it’s a much bigger challenge.
40 team members from across our six venues and the head office will take on a 26 mile (42km) trek through the Peak District, climbing nearly 3,000ft along the way, all in aid of Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

Why we walk for Sheffield Children’s Hospital
Sheffield Children’s Hospital is a dedicated children’s hospital in the UK, caring for thousands of young patients and their families every year.
It’s a cause close to home for our team, many of whom live and work right on its doorstep in the Peak District.
From specialist medical equipment to groundbreaking research and child-friendly facilities, every pound raised helps the hospital give children the best possible care during the hardest moments a family can face.
It’s why we’ve supported the hospital in more ways than one this year, including sponsoring King of the Peaks, one of the 150 lion sculptures in the Pride of Yorkshire trail marking the hospital’s 150th anniversary. But the walk remains our biggest and most personal fundraising effort of the year.

The route: linking our venues across the Peak District
Last year’s walk covered 30km between our venues and raised an incredible £6,500+ for the hospital, smashing our original target along the way.
This year we’re going further, quite literally, with a full 42km route that takes in every Longbow Venues site including our newest addition in Bakewell, The Charleston.
The team sets off early from The Peacock at Owler Bar, passing through Hathersage to visit The George, stopping for lunch at The Maynard in Grindleford before continuing on to The Peacock at Rowsley and The Charleston, before finishing the challenge at The Ashford Arms.
It’s a route that doubles as a love letter to the Peak District, taking in some of the most scenic walking country in England.
The team is walking with guidance from What’s Not to Hike, a Peak District based first aid and guided adventure company, to make sure everyone is prepared for the distance and the terrain ahead.

This year’s fundraising target
Having beaten last year’s goal, we’re setting our sights even higher for 2026 with a target of £7,500 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
Every donation helps fund lifesaving equipment, pioneering research and welcoming, family-friendly spaces for children and families at the hospital, often at the most stressful and uncertain moments of their lives.
As one of the team from Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity put it last year, fundraising like this makes a real difference and helps the hospital continue to provide the best possible care for the children and families who rely on it.
How you can support the walk
You don’t need to walk 42km to help us reach our target. Here’s how you can get involved:
- Donate to the cause via our JustGiving page
- Share the walk with friends and family on social media
- Send the team a message of encouragement before the big day
- Come along and cheer the walkers on as they pass through one of our venues
