Designing The Peacock at Owler Bar – A Sneak Peek

If you missed the news, Longbow Venues has acquired The Peacock at Owler Bar.

Today, in collaboration with award-winning design and build specialists, Concorde BGW, a £350,000 refurbishment is underway ready for opening on Wednesday, December 11th.

But what can you expect in terms of the new look and the new identity?

Mood Boards

We LOVE a mood board at Longbow Venues because we love interior design.

In fact, our managing director, Rob Hattersley, turned to interior design to cope during the Covid lockdowns.

He did much of the original interior design of our first venue, The Maynard before Concorde BGW carried on his vision at The George, The Ashford Arms and now, The Peacock at Owler Bar.

Rob works closely with the Concorde BGW team to think about the furnishings, textures, colours and materials that will bring each venue to life and tell a story within every space.

Collecting images of chosen items into one mood board like this allows everyone to understand the design brief.

As you can see, very nature-inspired and natural shades of green are coupled with rich teal hues – synonymous with the beautiful, iridescent colours of the peacock bird.

Natural dark wood and luxurious textiles like velvet bring a rich and warm vibe to the table.

Black framed mirrors and black framed doors bring that modern elegance to the spaces and the floral patterns are featured in a variety of ways.

Of course, these exact designs may not feature in the final venue but the mood board gives everyone a visual of the vision.

The Branding

The mood boards also help to create the visual identity in terms of the branding.

Concorde BGW have taken our ideas, our words, our mood boards, our menus, our company ethos and our vision. They let it creatively percolate and translate everything we convey into the right colours, fonts, logos and brand stories.

They really are geniuses in the way they listen, create and present back exactly what we see in our mind’s eye.

In collaboration with Concorde BGW, we’ve created a new look and new branding for The Peacock at Owler Bar which retains a sense of heritage but breathes in new life, all while in keeping with our other Longbow Venues.

The idea is that although each of our venues is run on the same operational framework and managed by Longbow Venues (with the same values, standards, operating procedures and ethos), each venue has its own identity and a clearly defined personality, look and feel.

That’s why menus are different at each venue.

That’s why the interiors are carefully and thoughtfully designed to maintain that premium feel all our venues are famous for.

However, it’s so important to us that each venue has a specific and unique character that helps each individual venue stand out in their local area.

The Online Presence

Over the next few weeks, while refurbishments take place, we are working behind the scenes on our new website for The Peacock at Owler Bar.

Our social media channels have been created and we’d love for you to give us a follow and keep up to date with everything as we reopen.
